Last year we had some chocolate left after Easter and made some cornflake buns this year we decided to use what we had left to make mars bar fudge.
It is really simple and extremely tasty, it wont be hanging around in our house long!
-400g milk chocolate
-1 can of condensed milk
-3 Mars bars
You will also need
-Baking tray with high sides, baking paper & saucepan
-Break up the chocolate and put it into the saucepan along with the condensed milk.
-Heat over a low heat until it has all melted.
-Take it off the heat & leave to cool for 15 minutes
-While its cooling chop up the mars bars into slices, make sure to keep one mars bar separate.
-Put the baking paper into the baking tray to make it easier to take out after its all cooled.
-Once cooled add two of the chopped mars bars into the mixture and stir.
-After stirring empty out the mixture into the baking tray and spread it out evenly.
-Add the final sliced mars bar to the top,
Once cooled lift it out and slice it up then enjoy!

We had lots of Kinder Egg chocolate left over after Easter so we decided to make some yummy cornflake buns! Using the Kinder Egg chocolate made them even more yummier than normal!
If you have any spare chocolate laying about after Easter here is what you can do with it!
200g chocolate of choice!
7 tablespoons of golden Syrup
100g unsalted butter (room temp)
& Muffin cases for big ones or cupcake if you want to make smaller ones!
-Put the chocolate, butter & golden syrup into a saucepan, and slowly melt it together while stirring!
-Take the chocolate melted loveliness off the heat and add the cornflakes! Do this bit by bit stirring until they are all covered!
-Then separate the mixture into the cases, and place in the fridge for a few hours until they have cooled!
-Enjoy.. and try not to eat them all at once!
Super Simple and Delicious!
I saw a video of someone making this fudge online and could not believe how simple it was! I was sure it wasn’t going to taste as great as it did but it was super fantastic so had to share it with you all!
- 1 tin of condensed Milk
- 400 grams of chocolate
- baking tray to put it in (mine was 9″x9″)
- baking paper
Seriously that is all the ingredients you need!
- Line your baking tray with baking paper
- Put all of the ingredients in a bowl
- Mix them all up and put it in the microwave on high for 1 minuite .. if the chocolate doesn’t seem melted enough put it in for another 30 seconds. I have a 800watt microwave and went for 1min30 and it was perfect!
- Pour into the baking tray lined with baking paper and put it in the fridge for 4-5 hours .. the longer the better!
- Take it out and lift the fudge block out of the baking tray using the baking paper, then place on a plate upside down and peal off the baking paper (slow and steady then comes off all in one go!)
- Cut it up into squares with a sharpish knife and enjoy!
It is simply delicious and so super easy to do! Great for parties, playdates .. anything!

Sugar Mice! These little sweets full of sugary goodness hold some great memories for me! When I saw a recipe for them in my daughters magazine I knew that I just had to make them! When I looked at the recipe I was amazed at how few ingredients they actually required! With it coming up to my dads birthday I decided that I would make them for him, seeing as he loves them and they seem to be one of the few sweets he eats!
The memories that they hold for me are greatly linked to my dad too! He loves rugby, he is a very huge rugby fan! Hence the present I have got him (WRU polo shirt!) So, anytime that went to a rugby match over in Wales, we used to get a bus in from my aunties house, then walk from the stop we always got off at, through a little market and he would always go into this little old sweet shop that had the sweets in the big jars, and sugar mice! He would come out with one each for all of us, we would then thoroughly enjoy eating them then,then carried on the walk to the rugby ground!
Now, onto the recipe!
Ingredients! (Makes 12)
- 1 Egg White
- 1 Tsp Lemon Juice
- 500g Icing Sugar (Sifted)
- Pink Food Colouring
- Small Chocolate Sprinkles (or something small for eyes)
- Thin String (strawberry laces also work!)
- Baking tray, lined with baking parchment
- Put the egg white into a bowl and whisk until it turns foamy
- Slowly add in the icing sugar and stir as you are doing it. It will turn into a dough!
- Divide the mixture into two bowls and add some pink food colouring and kneed it into the dough type mixture.
- Break off conker sized pieces and then roll them into a cone shape. The narrow end will then be the mouses nose.
- Pinch little cute ears on to the mouse, then use whatever you have chosen for the mouses eyes and push them in.
- Cut a length of the string and then push it into the dough at the back.
- Use the Pink food colouring to add a little nose.
- Repeat until you have used all of the mixture and then leave them on the baking tray to dry out for at least 12 hours!
- ENJOY! =D
It is a lot harder to make that little mouse shape than it looks to be honest! I would love to see if you guys have made these and how you found it! My little girl tried to help make these and she just ended up getting annoyed at it! She decided to just make a “Mouse squish” .. basically just crushed the mixture! lol!

Any other traditional sweets that you used to have?
These are some of the most simplest, and pretty darn tasty buns to make!
I never realised until recently that they were a Northern Irish thing until my sister told me! They really are the simple and darn tasty little things! Very simple to make too, so always lots of fun to do with the kids!
They are called 15s because you put 15 of all the ingredients in! You can make them using anything you want really! Here is what they are traditionally made using;
15 digestive biscuits
15 marshmallows chopped in half/30 mini marshmallows
1 tin of condensed milk (Not 15!)
Now in my house we aren’t cherry or coconut fans so I only used the marshmallows!
I will let you guys know how to do it with them though but obviously my pictures wont include them!
- Put the digestive biscuits in a freezer bag! Make sure all of the air is out of it, seal it then crush the digestive biscuits up using a rolling pin or something similar! Have fun doing this, let out your anger ;] Make sure there are no big bits of biscuits left! If there Is a few you can crumble them between your fingers!
- Add in the cherries & Marshmallows and mix it all together
- Empty in the tin of condensed milk and mix either using a spoon or if you want to get mucky, your hands! if the mixture feels gloopy and sticky at this stage crush up another two digestives and add them and mix them in!
- Once you have done all that roll it out into a roll shape then put the coconut out on a surface and roll the 15s over it so that it coats the outside!
- Wrap it up in Clingfilm and refrigerate for a couple of hours, or if you want them done quicker, put them in the freezer for an hour!
- Whenever they have been refrigerated, take them out and unwrap the Clingfilm and cut them up!

How do the minds of little ones work?
I would love to know the answer if anyone has it? My little ones mind seems to jump from one thing to another so quickly! Her imagination is fantastic! Today several times i have had to put on my imaginary gloves, hat and scarf and play in the snow and make snow angels! She hasn’t even really seen snow! Well.. She did once when she was about one but not loads of snow for building snow men in, and she was only one so would she really remember! She was making me build a snowman too, we were rolling the imaginary ball about the floor until she was completely satisfied it was big enough then doing another for his head, putting eyes on and all the rest! I was fascinated by her knowing how to do this, though I suppose she must have seen it on t.v? Oh I know where! The snowman and the snow dog, she loves that little short film! I have watched it many times and it always gets me in the mood for Christmas! I can’t wait for it as she will be able to enjoy it fully.. Just fingers crossed, I’m not in labour or in hospital over Christmas or I will cry more than just a normal woman in labour 😉
When my hubby came in from work he was put the test of imagination too, as you can see from the picture above! He was having to pretend he was in a sled and she was his snow dog pulling the sled for him! She went nuts every time she let go and kept saying “no daddy, hold my tshirt” lol! She is a mad one for sure! After that she made them go into there snow cave and hug for warmth while tickling there ten babies.. I hope she realises I never plan to have ten babies!!
They then had to play doctors and daddy had to lay on the floor while she did his heart for him and he then made a beeping noise every time she pushed his tummy! This amused her greatly, so much so I think this lasted for about half an hour! Mind you I was grateful to be able to just sit down for a while without having to run about like mad!!
When I picked her up from nursery she wanted to do some baking, so that’s what we did! I cheated a little as we had one of those packs where you just add water and an egg then mix and hey presto, yummy cup cakes! She had such a blast making these and tasting them before they were done, to which she informed me tasted nicer than when cooked! We also made some cookies which the hubby was chuffed with when he got in from work! She loves baking and making a mess! I think the best bit though is tasting it as you go along! Here is a few pictures of what the final outcome was like and how great she is at tasting and doing her new “cheese puppy dog eyes” the cookies was a very simple recipe, I just made the mistake of mixing the chocolate buttons in to the mix, in the mixer so they all got destroyed and putting them all in the oven at once! Oops! Though still taste great!
