Squidgydoodle Craft box Review & discount code!

The weather on the weekend was absolutely horrible. If we had of went outside I think we would have looked like drowned rats in 0.2 seconds, so when the postman rang the doorbell and handed over a package for Amellia I knew exactly what we would be getting up to while spending a day hiding inside from the rain!

img_0261When we opened it up and discovered that it was full of arts & crafts supplies to make unicorn & rainbow things we couldn’t wait to get stuck in!
It came with a lovely little brightly coloured booklet that explained to you how to make the things & what I really loved was how simple they were. We have had boxes like this in the past and I have had to make half the things for her because they have been so complicated.
img_0264

We got stuck in making the first item which was a unicorn horn. Everything you need to make all the items are inside this little post-box friendly sized box, which makes it even handier as you shouldn’t have to run to the post office if you aren’t in when it’s delivered. Amellia particularly loved the rainbow crayon and being able to be a dabbing unicorn.. trust my kid!

Next up we got stuck in with the painting and cracked on with the next two things to make! One was a rainbow scrapping which is where you use a little bit of cardboard to cover over a stencil and then remove the stencil to be left with a coloured rainbow and the next was a rainbow rain unicorn. The rainbow rain unicorn was a lot of fun to make. We used the box to stand it up in and then you mixed a little water into the paints and sucked it up with a pipette and squirted it at the top of the page.. I thought this was going to be messy but by some miracle Amellia manged to keep all the paint on the page!

After completing these I thought that they were not going to be quite as pretty as we had hopped.. but after waiting for them to dry and removing the bits we needed too..

I was more than impressed with the bits of art we had created together!

The final thing was making rainbow slime which we decided to wait till after dinner to do this incase it ended up really messy. Amellia is generally pretty good at making any task messy, but for some reason today she was actually pretty neat with everything we did! She was very impressed with the rainbow slime we made as it was a liquid until you tried to pick it up the it became a solid. She had lots of fun playing with it before it was time for a story & bed!

img_0306We really enjoyed doing this box together and it kept her entertained all day as we spread out the arts and crafts during the day. They were simple enough that I could leave her to do the colouring etc while I played with Dylan and with me going away and coming back she was always very proud to show me what she had done.

I love that these boxes are all handmade & prepared by a lovely lady who also runs a blog where she shares other arts & craft which you can view here.
All the activities where easy, very enjoyable and left you with great pieces of art.
Intact we enjoyed it so much I have already ordered the Halloween & Winter Wonderland box!! My one complaint.. I wish they did monthly boxes!
If you fancy trying one out head over to the shop here and use the code LOUISE to get a 10% discount which is valid until the 9th of December.
You will find a range of different craft boxes, party boxes, mini crafts and seasonal craft boxes.

Simple Must Try Fun!

With my little girl just starting preschool we have been trying to find ways to keep her busy but aren’t that strenuous as she is coming out of preschool exhausted and grumpy! She is really enjoying herself which is such a great thing and I’m starting to get used to the afternoon classes rather than the usual ones! This week is her first week of being in everyday! The hubby came home from work and was greeted by an exhausted me (my little man has lost his great sleeping ='[) and a hyper, yet grumpy girl as she was knackered! Until he announced that he had a fantastic idea! I sighed.. expecting it to be something utterly ridiculous, loud and messy… to my surprise it was not!
He looked at me and said “i just need some string and a hanger?” I was a bit suspicious.. what could you do with a bit of string and a hanger? This did not sound like fun.. it sounded like a big old let down! My oh my was I wrong!
I watched as he tied a bit of string from our door handle to the fire place, then ran upstairs and appeared with a hanger and my little girls favorite teddy/puppet who has fittingly been called “Monkey” .. I’m sure you can guess, he is monkey! She was bouncing about the place asking me what it was for and she was getting very excited… and I just was just very confused by it .. he then announced it was a Zip-line! I still couldn’t see how.. until he showed us!

12029001_10156095207880581_1397865987_n
As you can see by the look on her face.. this was one of the best things she had ever seen! She thought this was so fantastic! Such a simple idea and she had hours of fun! Everyday since she has had the zip-line!

So all you need is a length of string and two places to hang it.. the higher the better and a kids trouser hanger!
Little miss got a bit concerned that it would hurt her lovely toys, so we got them to “hold” on with there hands!
12032601_10156095207345581_1917001786_n

This is how monkey and how he held on! =]

Such a simple thing, yet entertained my little ones for ages and the dog! She thought it was great trying to catch a moving target.. Little miss didn’t appreciate this too much though so Lilo got a pigs ear and was happy as Larry to let the Zip lining continue! =] Little Miss loved it so much she even had to facetime nanny so that she could see the fun monkey was having!

Do you guys have any simple things that your little ones love?
If you try this let me know what your little ones think! =D

Sewing class!

I really must apologize for how long it has been since I lasted blogged. Something very tragic happened and we have been coping with that along with other news too! Moving on from that though…

I went on a sewing course with my sister which her lovely friend Jools teaches! This made it a lot easier seeing as I had never used a sewing machine in my life, and I was pretty convinced that I was going to fail at using one! I thought I was going to be heading to A&E after it with a needle stuck through my hand or something! Though I didn’t!

I first of all started my day with a very sweaty little girl roasting me awake! I looked at the clock and sprang out of bed, all excited for my new experience! So, I got a shower and got myself ready for a child free day.. they do exist! :O and started on my journey! My sister lives about a forty minute drive from my house, so as I was driving along I was just enjoying the sunshine and some head space for myself! Where my sister lives is just beautiful, every time I am there, even if it is just sitting in the car picking her up I get a sense of jealousy! Its such a lovely and peaceful place! Me & my sister had discussed what to wear before I had left my house.. and it being such a sunny day we deiced on sunshine clothes! Little summer dress & shorts… we should have guessed really.. but it ended up raining! It was then onwards to pick up Jools and head to our class! Though not before picking up a lovely caramel Latte!

We then went to the shop where Jools teaches some lovely folk how to use a sewing machine! When we first sat down she started to explain the machines, what everything did and how to do everything.. I got extremely lost and confused! Though she then showed us our fabric and told us she would explain things step by step as we went along.. phew what a relief! Here was my wonderful set-up. I was very excited and intrigued to get started!
wpid-wp-1435609360380.jpeg

As things progressed, and my sister and I discovered we need to use an iron… seriously, we were very shocked.. the only thing that gets ironed in this house is my hubbies work shirts, and he generally does that! So this was a whole new experience too! (I jest..kind of!)

After lots of chatting & guidance on what I was doing I was getting very excited by how my bag was starting to take shape! It wasn’t as stressful as I was expecting thankfully!
wpid-wp-1435609376197.jpeg

Here is an action shot of my sister, who was deep in concentration!
wpid-wp-1435609389783.jpeg
As you can see we both went for the same material, but its so awesome! It also matches the changing bag that I have for my little boy and has now found a lovely home staying safe in there for any shop visits I have! I used to always end up going and having to buy a bag as I always forgot to carry one with me! Now I have my very own handmade bag, I will always have a bag handy.. and with how my sewing went, it has very sturdy handles!

Jools had to help me to re thread the machine several times, as I just couldn’t get the hang of that! Then as we were nearing finishing our bags, I was starting to get the hang of it! I was super chuffed that my sister and I both ended up with near perfect bags and in such a beautiful pattern! I wouldn’t have been able to do it at all if I hadn’t had the guidance from Jools! It was such a fun experience and I would highly recommended it! We chatted, laughed and just had lots of fun while being productive! Thank you Jools and I am pretty sure my sister and I will be back to do the cushion course shortly!

wpid-wp-1435609402936.jpeg
How excited does my sister and myself look about our complete bags! We just couldn’t wait to use them that we had to stop on the way home to go to a shop and test them out! We then went to Jools house for a lovely lunch before heading out for a nosey at a few other shops!

I enjoyed myself so much that I am now looking at getting myself a sewing machine and making lots or other crafty makes! My daughter already has a request in for some clothes for her babies! eek! Any advice on what sewing machine you guys would go for? I’m so confused .. there is like 1000000 different ones!

I will be blogging again soon my lovelies!

Toucan Box craft

Bit of a different blog for you guys today. Though I had to blog about this box as it was just downright fantastic.

As I was pondering on what to do with my three year old when she got home and the hubby had goneΒ out to wet the babies head, I got a wonderful delievery from the postman. I had seen an advert on my facebook for a little box called a Toucan box; Basically it is a little box which has all the materials and instrutions in it to make a craft item. You can choose from a couple of options on there website of how often you want them, how many craft ideas and extra supplies for more children, I think the extra supplies thing is fab idea and I will be doing this whenever my little man is old enough to join in! When you have signed up for a box you then get to select what things your child enjoys so it gives the boxes a lovely little personal touch as you know they will enjoy all the crafts you receive.

So whenever she got home and the hubby had gone to enjoy himself, I told my litle girl that the post man had brought her a special parcel. She found this exceptionally exciting, seeing as she very rarely recieves post! Though I know that I find it exciting still as an adult to get unexpected parcels in the post,I was also pretty excited to see what these little boxes contained.

I was very excited whenever we opened it and found this;

wpid-wp-1422460303200.jpeg

All the wonderful things we would need to have a jellyfish race in our own house! Not only is it super cool to have a jellyfish race in your own house but my little girl adores the seaside! Her nanny and bampy live right by the seaside so she very much adores the seaside and anything to do with it! I was super impressed with how all of the craft bits incuded in this box were of very high standered. The ribbion is super thick and really impressed me! All the colours on the peices included in the box are very vibarent which obviously to my three year old and other little ones makes it even more appealing! I was pleasently surprised to find that the bits that were the body of the jelly fish, were of a sturdy cardboard and were already pre cut. They also already had holes along the bottom of them to make the jellyfish legs! I thought that I would have to create these holes myself and cut out his body, so it was super that it was all ready and all I had to do was simply trim the ribbion and the straw. With an impatint and excitable toddler, this was a mega bonus. So i quickly trimmed all of these things down so that we could get started on creting these racing jellyfish.

So, we got started.
I showed her the instructions and they were so beautifuy dispayed that she could even understand them! Every stage was illistrated so well that you hardly need to even read the instuctions that are written below the pictures.

wpid-wp-1422460292826.jpeg

As you can see; this craft really held her attention! I think it is because she could follow the instructions and all of the bits were ready waiting for her to just put them where she was meant to! She needed help with a few parts of this craft but with only being three I expected this and got the Toucan box so that it would give me ideas of what to do with her and hopefully help me think of new crafts to do with her.

Inside the box also comes a litle postcard idea with activities on the back for you to do with your children while you wait for your next box! :] On the front of the instructions it also gives you a messiness rating, a grown up assistnce level and also little facts about what you have just made. So for example with the box I got which included the kit to make the jellyfish came facts about the jellyfish to share with my three year old! Another great addition to the box is a “What we are learning” card. So for exaple this one is Science, Art & Design. It also gives you ideas of what to talk about to your child while doing the activity to help increase the knowledge they gain.

Here is our finshed product; I didnt want to give to much away as I really advise you try out one of these boxes!

They deliver to all of the UK at 98p for a petite box, which is what I got for my first box and Β£2.95 for a standard box. If you live outside of the UK they have an email address on the there website to contact the and to see how much it is. here is a link that will enable you to get your first box for free to try it out and if you really don’t like it well then its very simple to cancel.
Trust me though, you should give it a go and I hope you are as pleasantly surprised a how fab it is as I was!

Oh and another thing to add about these super cool boxes is that they come with little stickers/tokens and whenever you have enough you can then choose a prize. You can see which prizes they have on there website for you to choose from!

Birthday, growing up, nursery- catch up

My sister has taken my little one to the farm so finally I have got some time to blog and sit down to myself! Sorry it has been so long, I have just been so tired at night, with this horrible pregnancy malarky and sorting out the house! My little two year old has now turned three, she has now got a ‘big girl’ room and we have painted the nursery and started to sort all we have bought! I’ll fill you in on it all!

Let’s start with the ‘big girl’ room! We wanted to get her moved and into it a good time before baby appeared so she didn’t think she was getting kicked out of her room for baby, which technically is the case, but she got moved to a bigger room and it’s all pretty and lovely so it was a good move for her πŸ˜‰ though we all know how kids think and I didn’t want her having it in her head that she had to move with no choice etc, so we let her decide on the colour and so forth! She choose a lovely colour, it’s called Candyfloss! Which yes, is probably why she chose it as she loves Candyfloss.. Or anything food related to be honest! She has now informed me that her Candyfloss walls are very tasty … I’m not sure if she literally think that it tastes like Candyfloss just because of the name, but she loves it so that’s all that matters! Phew new bedding, light shade, rug and beanbag are also pink with brightly coloured owls on them, which she also loves (she’s easily pleased!) we couldn’t decide whether or not to put the baby gate on her door to stop her coming out every five minutes at bed time, but we decided we would rather battle and get her to learn to stay in her room before the baby gets her, rather than having to take her back several times each night and also be dealing with a baby! It’s going ok so far, she stays in most nights.. With a little chocolate bribery πŸ˜‰ though I think everyone with kids knows that bribery is the best plan! She has taken to her new room and being a big girl very well! I’m so proud of how great she has taken to it! She’s such a super girl πŸ˜€

It was her third birthday on Saturday, we had such a lovely day! I took cocodamol before so that I would be good to stand and interact a bit and it was a great choice! (I promise not to moan about pain in this post ;)) she had a frozen themed party! We just had a frozen bouncy castle out the back in our garden and then some homemade cupcakes with frozen toppers and some other tasty homemade snacks! I rather enjoy baking! πŸ™‚ my sister, myself, my mum and my friend got into the frozen spirit with frozen tshirts, make up, nails, hair and so forth! It was great fun! I’m not sure my three year old really for the whole effort we had put in, but we had great fun and felt the part!
IMG_0165.JPG
Don’t we look fab πŸ˜‰
I still can’t get over the fact that my little one is three.. It only seems like a year ago that she was born.. But then other times it feels like she has been here forever because I really cannot or want to imagine what life would be like without her! I love her little quizzes and so forth that I get, her little random questioning on such real life situations! For example she has realised about death and dying.. Yes very morbid,by but a real life situation that she does need to know about. She understands that people grow old and die and that is normally how it happens and so forth. I’m glad that she understands and all, she just seems so little to be understanding and questioning about these things! She’s growing up far to fast! Though I do much prefer this stage than the baby stage where they can’t really do to much at all and just cry and poo! Lol! At least now she can interact, have conversations, enjoy what we do and appreciate things! It’s fantastic! I want her to stay at this stage for ever though.. But I’m sure I will always think that.. Until she gets to be about nine and then the rebelling and so forth starts! I’m not to sure how I will deal with that.
Here is her enjoying her cake on her birthday, I must say she was super spoilt by everyone and it made me see how many people do actually care and appreciate her!

IMG_0166.JPG

Now for an update on the pregnancy, nursery etc! πŸ˜€ I’ll try and not moan to much πŸ˜‰
My hubby painted the nursery the other day, now I wanted a lovely little baby blue, but he wanted this colour called Azure so I thought, ok why not doesn’t look to bad on the colour match thing.. Then when he has started to paint I almost felt like crying.. I hated the colour and was so annoyed, hormones took over and I had to walk away before I started to ball! To me it was more like florescent blue! I let hubby carry on though and just kept thinking to myself that I can paint over if it is still horrible to me after a few months! Now a few days on I actually am starting to like it, thankfully! Though I wouldn’t describe it as azure blue.. More like Smurf blue! It goes well though with the bedding and so forth we have for him! We have went for a sea sort of theme? The bedding is called Bubble Blue from mamas and papas! It is so cute, has little whales, jelly fish and crabs on it! I love it and it feels so nice! It came with a fleece blanket and it has taken a lot for me not to just use the blanket for myself! Lol! We have ordered the furniture for his nursery and it will be here in two weeks! We are using my little girls cot so going to build that soon and then when the new furniture is here I can’t wait to put all the clothes in and sort out all we have.. We have sure bought a lot! Lol!
I had a scan there a week or two back, to check on baby and to make my consultant aware of my spd and how I have been feeling! When they scanned me they said that baby is looking great, though possibly a bit big, as he was measuring 4lb2, and 2 weeks ahead of what my due date is supposed to be. Though after 20 week scan they won’t move your due date! My consultant was lovely too! I am having a lot of bother with my spd, mainly because it is affecting my little one.. We had a lovely sunny day yesterday and she was desperate to get to the park, I felt so bad not being able to take her! So anyway, when I was up at the hospital we were talking about how I was feeling and so forth, she said it was obvious I was in a lot of pain, and that they aren’t unsympathetic. They are now going to scan me every two weeks and see how baby is growing, because another factor to my spd being so bad would be because of the baby being so big! I’m a pretty small framed person normal too, so my body isn’t good afford carrying a big baby! They have said that at 38 weeks they will check me and if my body is ready they will break my waters and then and there and I will have baby. This would be fantastic! At the moment I am counting down days to be out of pain, not to have a baby which is wrong! So it’s great that they have told me this.. I just want to make sure.p I’m ready for 38 weeks though I’m not sure how! Any tips? Lol! I am back up next week and I am going to make sure that my consultant write that down in my maternity notes, just incase I get someone else and they don’t know what she has agreed or told me! I am also going to ask her if she will put down that If at 38 weeks and I’m not ready will she induce me at 39 weeks, if I know for sure that I will be induced at 39 weeks, I think I will be able to start to enjoy this pregnancy more! It is scary to think though that if I go to 40 weeks.. Which fingers crossed they will help me out before I have 8 weeks! If I am ready at 38 weeks that there is only 6 weeks! So I’m desperately trying to sort stuff.. As it all of a sudden seems to have just appeared that we are on a final countdown! It’s not nice though because I am desperate to old things and I am seriously nesting and can’t do to much about the house! I brushed the kitchen floor and did the surfaces the other day.. Which I would have done most days before this and I couldn’t move for the rest of the day without excruciating pain! It was mental! So trying to do the whole nesting, sorting baby stuff, sorting house ready for baby isn’t the greatest!

On a final note, because I know a few of you enjoy seeing it, here is some of the paper cutting that I have been doing! If you would like a link to the templates just ask and I will happily send them! If any of my followers or anyone likes these, hit me up and I may be nice enough to send you one πŸ˜‰ infact I will be nice enough, we could become pen pals! πŸ˜€ oh I would love a pen pal! πŸ˜€
So here’s a wee photo of some of them, let me know what you think please! These are all other people’s templates πŸ™‚ I’m not confident enough to draw my own yet!

What its all about!

Hiya,

So firstly I would like to inform you guys why I am starting this blog;

My sister is the one who suggested that I started a blog, she has been doing a blog for quite some time now and really enjoys it. I myself can’t wait to start to get to know the people who read my blog and i suppose to get my ideas wrote and a sort of wee journal of what has happened and when! Our memories aren’t quite as good as we would like to hope some times! πŸ˜› So my sister is the one who gave me a little shove and put the idea into my head about starting a blog! =] I am excited to start my blog as I have spare time at night when I generally sit and twiddle my thumbs, watch rubbish T.V and all the fun things us mums & dads do when our little ones have gone to bed and the housework etc is done! My husband also works at night some times so it will give me something to do whenever he is out at work, playing football, or any of the other reasons he has to escape from the mental house!

I plan to blog about everything and anything, but mainly parenthood. Things you can do with your little ones, from arts & crafts, to recipes, great toys, apps, deals, my life and anything else that pops into my head while I’m at this! If there is something you would like to hear my view on just post in the comments and I will happily write a wee blog about it & so forth!

Oh & just in-case you were wondering where “WeeOhana” has came from; Lilo & Stitch is a favorite movie in our house and the quote;

“Ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.”

is one that we really love, so I was trying to link into this quote then thought .. WeeOhana though I must give my sister credit for thinking of it! If anyone is unfamiliar with the good old Northern Irish version of the word “wee” it means small.. so WeeOhana means – Small Family, which is what we are!
