Gifts from Small Businesses!

This year I have been getting the majority of my presents for others from small businesses and if small & local they are an even bigger win. Kids toys are pretty hard to find but there is a few items for kiddos featured which are a bit different to just toys as we all know every kid has far too many to even decide what to play with nowadays! Mainly though are presents for older loved ones. Some of these items have been bought for others.. so if you know me & we do gifts, ignore the things that look like you would like them, lol!

img_0261First up is the fab arts & crafts boxes you can order from Squidgy Doodle. A lovely lady makes these up in her house and has a whole range of different craft boxes on her website with many different price options. You can order a seasonal box which means the little one you order it would get 4 boxes throughout the year to help them learn about the different seasons through art. She also does a range of boxes from unicorns to pirates. Check out our full review here which also features a discount code!

Buying for someone with a sweet tooth? Then take a look at these Zaeire Artisian Chocolates as they are bound to love them.. They are handmade in Wexford and have won a gold star award from The Guild Of Fine Food. They are absolutely incredible and my favourite was the honeycomb one. The chocolate Christmas items for the kids were really enjoyed too, lovely thick chocolate so it didn’t melt really quick while the kids were holding it. Dylan really enjoyed the snowman!

Another item for the kiddos is something that will help their imagination expand and soar. WannaBees create little packs that encourage and help children’s imaginations by being a fun prop. Amellia received the teacher pack and its fab, inside it is packed full of things. Registration, weather, writing, reading records, stickers for good students and much more. She really enjoyed using this pack with her dolls and it kept her entertained for a whole afternoon! They do several other packs too so I’m sure you will find one to suit the little person you are looking to buy for.

An amazing and very local shop that is perfect for food lovers of every kind is Indie Fude. They only stock items  from the island of Ireland and are the loveliest staff members you will come across. They do hampers all year round which are always great for gifts, and an even bigger bonus is that they are provided in eco-friendly packing. They can make hampers starting as low as £5 which is perfect for teachers, if you go in for a chat or drop them a message they will be more than happy to help you sort out the perfect hamper for whoever you have in mind!

Another local business is Inspired by Thea. A lovely lady hand makes clothes in her home for little ones in many funky fabrics. Dylan & Amellia both love these clothes as they are so soft and comfortable! Use code Dylan10 for 10% off.

Any Disney fans? The friendliest of ladies opened up a little business called Hakuna.Majournals recently and it has really took off for her. She makes diaries & notebooks from Disney books, after I received my first order I had to get my hands on some more! They are fantastically priced, wonderfully made and she will even go on a hunt to find you just the one you want which is absolutely incredible. Perfect gift for a Disney fan, and can’t wait to get my hands on mine again on Christmas Day, thanks hubby!

I totally love ElephantBum so much. It’s ran by a lady who handprints T-shirts & jumpers. She does some lovely little designs and some incredible quotes. I have made several purchases through the year and plan to order some more in the new year!

We got sent the Chewymoon box which is full of individually wrapped healthy little snacks for little ones and you also get some stickers! Who doesn’t love stickers. Amellia really enjoyed these and they were perfect size for popping into her bag for her snack in school. You can sign up to this box of snacks to receive them weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

I have more things on the way from some small businesses I have found and will share them with you over on my Instagram as they arrive and will be doing more posts in the future where I spread the love for more that I discover along the way. If you know any small businesses please share them below in the comments!

How to get help with disabilities at Universal Studios & Disney world

Disability Passes in Universal & Disneyworld!

When we headed to America I was really worried about how Dylan would cope, but I had done a lot of research and had heard about how great the parks were with dealing with disabilities and the help they would offer. I thought I would put it all together in one post for you guys to see what they offer, how to get it and how it helped up!

Disney World

At Disney the pass is called the DAS pass, this stands for Disability access pass and is a whole load of help, our visit would not have gone so well without it. First of all how to attain this pass, is to head to guest relations in any of the parks. From reading online if I was you I wouldn’t try to get it at Magic Kingdom as the que can be quite long when the park first opens, so we headed to Hollywood Studios and picked it up there. We went in and I asked the lady how we went about getting the DAS pass for my son and she said that she would help sort us out. She took a quick picture of Dylan and connected it to his Magic band and scanned all of ours then asked about how he would be if he had to leave his buggy so I explained that if he was in ques around lots of people he would find this distressing if he didn’t have the safety of his buggy and would run off as he has no danger/safety awareness so she then provided us with a sticker for his buggy that meant crew members would treat his buggy as a wheelchair. This was amazing, it meant when we were queuing we didn’t have to worry about him getting distressed in the que and meant that he enjoyed the rides when he was in them as we could take him straight from his buggy onto them and it was waiting for us at the end of the ride too.
The DAS pass was wonderful, it meant that if there was a ride we wanted to take Dylan on we could just go to the ride and pick up a return time which was the wait for the ride minus ten minutes and then when we returned we could then go into the fast pass line. You can only have one wait time on your band at any stage and the person who holds the DAS pass has to be going on the ride because obviously it is to benefit them.
It was very simple to attain the pass, a lot less stressful than I thought it was going to be and all of the crew members at Disney were very accommodating, welcoming, super friendly and just made our visit simply amazing.

Universal Studios

At Universal it’s called the AAP which stands for Attraction Assistant Pass, and is pretty similar to the pass at Disney. You pick it up from Guest relations which is just inside both parks, we went in and again I asked about how to acquire the pass and after a few quick questions it was quickly set up and he also did that Dylan’s buggy was to be treated as a wheelchair too, so this meant again he could go in the ques and the shows in his buggy. The AAP works slightly different because if the ride has less than a thirty minute wait you can then just go into the express pass line. If it has a longer wait you then get a return time and like the Disney one you can only have one wait time at any stage. We found what also helped here was that lots of the rides me and Ad wanted to go on had single rider lines, and you basically got to just walk straight onto the rides as the waits for them were pretty damn long without doing that. It then ensured that my mum wasn’t having to sit with Dylan for a long time because he can get worked up really quickly unexpectedly and then hard to settle.
All of the staff at Universal were amazing, very helpful and just generally lovely people.

Hear how our flights went here, and ill be posting more about our visits shortly!

Pregnancy, Christmas & fun!

I really can’t get any inspiration on what to blog about…or inspiration to do anything for that matter.. But hey! Suppose that’s what the final run of pregnancy is like! Feeling like a beached whale at the moment! Just feel so large and heavy! on he final count down now! Tomorrow I will be 35 weeks, so 5 weeks till my due date, but baby is measuring 2+ weeks bigger, so I am up again on the first of December for another scan! The consultant also said she would check me to see if my body is ready to go into labour and if I am give me the sweep and possibly break my waters too if I am! So that’s pretty exciting! Means baby will be measuring 39+ if he keeps growing at the rate he is, so least that means he will be a healthy weight! They are doing it early for me because of the pain from my spd and because he is measuring big, the lady seemed quite concerned with his size considering that I am normally quite a small girl, she said that I have small hips etc, so him being large will be why I am so sore! I’m super excited to think that in less then three weeks I may have my baby in my arms! How mad is that.. I am so not ready.. But I don’t think I will be now until he is born! We have everything that we need for him ready and waiting now! It’s just a mater of getting him here! 😀 writing about it is actually getting me a little bit excited! Recently though I have had a few bouts of braxton hicks.. Which are for anyone who is unaware, like practice contractions so to speak! So apparently that shows that my body is ready! It also makes the whole giving birth thing and the pain sink in… I’m buggered I think the hubby is in for a real shock! Could see he was finding it hard and he didn’t want to leave when I was having a few BH, which is ever so lovely! 🙂 made me feel a little bit special though I did make him go to work, as will need all the help after and don’t want to waste his precious days off! He is such a super star, was at my mum and dads house today as he had worked nights and came home to the house sparkling! I really don’t give him enough credit for all that he does, I do adore him so much 🙂

The other day me and my little one made chocolate croissants for us all to have as breakfast! It was actually lovely all just sitting down and having breakfast together and she had such a laugh making them.. We did cheat a bit, it was a pack type idea where you just added the chocolate and rolled them up! Though it was scrummy and lots of fun for her! She loves baking and we did used to do it quite a bit together, but obviously at the moment it is quite hard to do this by myself, without a little one running about! The last time we properly baked together she poured flour all over the kitchen floor and had a blast making little foot prints in it.. So I think I’ll leave baking with her again for when the little one is here and having a nap! Then if she does decide to pour flour everywhere we can have a bit of a laugh in it rather than me panicking at how to clear it up when I can’t really brush the kitchen floor at the moment!

We are getting all excited about Christmas in our house at the moment! Mainly because of everywhere you go there is a Christmas tree, tinsel, Christmas decorations etc! Also it’s the first Christmas where my little angel understands (more or less) the whole Santa idea, presents, decorating and the likes! Today we went to a shopping centre to grab a few bits.. Every shop window she had to stop and excitedly jump up and down on the spot at the snowman, Santa, gingerbread man, lights or anything at all Christmassy! It did mean it took us a while to get to the bits we wanted to actually do, but it was so beautiful seeing how excited she got and how amazing it must be to be that small, young and innocent! It also though must feel like Christmas takes forever.. Because it is in the shops forever before Santa comes! It’s a bit depressing for me, I already have all her presents wrapped, and a few for baby brother so that she doesn’t ask why Santa didn’t come! Normally I am an Xmas eve/week wrapper and love wrapping them in front of a Christmas movie, with the fire on and a little drink! Obviously this year I couldn’t leave it to do that, just incase they decide they don’t want to induce me and baby decides to be very untimely and come on Christmas Eve or close! It also means that I won’t have to be worrying about wrapping when I have a tiny baby, or sitting on the floor etc.. Which those of us who have had babies know isn’t the comfiest of things to do 😉 all her things are wrapped and safe in a bag, so I can just say to anyone to grab them tv just incase I can’t! Which would be horrible, but I’ll deal with that when and if it happens!

We have our Christmas tree going up day all planned! 30th of November! 😀 mainly because If I do go in on the first and there like yeah, your having a baby tomorrow or whatever I don’t have to worry about that when we get home.. Also because I can’t wait and the little one is super excited! The next time hubby is off we are going to go up to the disney store and purchasing some new cute decorations, then depending on how I feel maybe hunt out a few other cute bits and pieces! On the note of Christmas decorations.. I got the cutest Mickey Mouse nut cracker the other day off Amazon! He is amazing.. Though I don’t think he would serve much purpose as a nut cracker.. So I’m glad I bought him as a decoration! 😀 He is going to be one of those decorations that you keep for years and bring out every year! We aren’t ones to have a colour coordinated Christmas tree, we just go for complete and utter random ones, and ones that mean things to us and so forth! we really need a new artificial Christmas tree, but going to have to wait till next year for that as obviously have a few more important things this year 😉
What do you think of Mickey Mouse then? I’m in love 😉

I hope you have all been keeping well?
When will you be putting up your Christmas tree?
Oh and here’s my most recent paper cut! Not very Christmassy.. but I think its cute! What about you??

What its all about!

Hiya,

So firstly I would like to inform you guys why I am starting this blog;

My sister is the one who suggested that I started a blog, she has been doing a blog for quite some time now and really enjoys it. I myself can’t wait to start to get to know the people who read my blog and i suppose to get my ideas wrote and a sort of wee journal of what has happened and when! Our memories aren’t quite as good as we would like to hope some times! 😛 So my sister is the one who gave me a little shove and put the idea into my head about starting a blog! =] I am excited to start my blog as I have spare time at night when I generally sit and twiddle my thumbs, watch rubbish T.V and all the fun things us mums & dads do when our little ones have gone to bed and the housework etc is done! My husband also works at night some times so it will give me something to do whenever he is out at work, playing football, or any of the other reasons he has to escape from the mental house!

I plan to blog about everything and anything, but mainly parenthood. Things you can do with your little ones, from arts & crafts, to recipes, great toys, apps, deals, my life and anything else that pops into my head while I’m at this! If there is something you would like to hear my view on just post in the comments and I will happily write a wee blog about it & so forth!

Oh & just in-case you were wondering where “WeeOhana” has came from; Lilo & Stitch is a favorite movie in our house and the quote;

“Ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.”

is one that we really love, so I was trying to link into this quote then thought .. WeeOhana though I must give my sister credit for thinking of it! If anyone is unfamiliar with the good old Northern Irish version of the word “wee” it means small.. so WeeOhana means – Small Family, which is what we are!
